Conditions of Entry
All works submitted for entry must have been completed after January 1, 2015, and not previously exhibited or published in any form—for details, see FAQs. Entrants must be CBBAG members; however, if you are not a current CBBAG member you can become a member during the entry form submission process. Up to three works may be entered; only one entry per category permitted.
Entry fee includes:
- Return postage of work not selected by the jury
for the travelling exhibition.
- Professional photography of all entries.
- Display of each entry in an online catalogue.
Exhibitors chosen for the travelling exhibition will receive:
- $50 Canadian Artists Representation/Le Front Des
Artistes Canadiens (CARFAC) exhibition fee per work.
- Paid return postage if CBBAG membership is
maintained for the duration of the exhibition.
- A print catalogue.
Competition categories and eligibility
Fine Binding, Papermaking, Paper Decorating, Calligraphy,
Box Making, Fine Printing, Artists’ Books and Restoration.

- Wall-hung works are not eligible for entry.
- Books should not be larger than 38 x 38 x 10 cm
(15 x 15 x 4 in) when closed. Boxes: 38 x 38 x 20 cm.
Weight limit: 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs).
- All work must be of orginal design. If it includes work
by others then it must be credited as such.
- Not eligible: works with electronic, liquid, or perishable
components; overly fragile books, blank books, or
commercially produced books such as Lulu, Blurb, etc.

Each entry must include a separate completed Submission Form.
All entries must be sent in a fitted box or slipcase which should be wrapped in bubblewrap and placed in a sturdy postal box. (The same box will be used to return the work to the sender.) US or overseas packages should be listed for Customs as “not for sale.” Work being returned to the artist by Canada Post will be insured for loss or damage up to a value of $1,000.00 CDN. (All work accepted to the exhibition is insured during its tour of Canada.)
The exhibition will be juried on the excellence of the work, the design, its originality, and its function. The jurors are Betsy Palmer Eldridge, Jan Elsted, Lang Ingalls, and Susan Warner Keene. The results of jurying will be available May 31, 2018.
